Day Three of Vacation 2011: Chemainus and the Evening

                                                           August 2 continued
This afternoon we visited the quaint town of Chemainus, famous for its murals.  William found a piano at an antique shop; he played and I sang along.  The woman working there didn't want us to ever leave; I didn't want to leave either.  We had a delightful lunch at a bakery/sandwich place where we bought two loaves of bread (it was very good bread... :)

Later that evening Aunt Caity, William, Karinna, and my dad went out to dinner but Ginny, Mom, and I decided to stay and play fetch with Apollo.  Well, it wasn't intentional -- we were throwing a frisbee and Apollo started chasing it.  We threw a ball for him, but in the clever way of dogs, he knew we were trying to distract him and he only wanted to play with what we were playing with.  The sky was sweet and emitted a gentle glow.  Mom, Ginny, and I picnicked on the porch, enjoying the evening light, and the buffalo wandering by.  When the others returned from dinner we played Cranium in the library until midnight.
We stopped in a tea shop in Chemainus.  Above us (not pictured) is a chandelier with a sign that says "Please do not clear the cobwebs, we're saving them for Halloween.  Thank you."

This is the view from the porch.
